OUR COMPANY

BGS is an independent UK consultancy delivering risk and security management solutions to the corporate and government sectors globally. 

Our blend of high-level skills and experience in this market enables us to design and deliver bespoke solutions to meet all security requirements.

The Board of BGS comprises of proven leaders with significant track records in strategic national leadership in law enforcement and defence in areas such as counter terrorism, cyber security, border security, criminal justice, programme management and technology. Our wider specialist team include leaders who have delivered training and major modernisation and change programmes up to and including ministerial level sign, off and led defence operations in the most demanding environments worldwide.

Operationally, we have investigated the most significant terrorist events impacting the UK and have been involved in the most complex operations against criminals of major organised crime gangs. Our teams have investigated serious crimes including murder and complex company fraud; designed and implemented physical and personal security arrangements for Royal families and government ministers and provided close protection for those individuals. We have led police firearms operations, traced the assets of the world’s most prominent criminals and terrorists, and led military operations in demanding overseas locations. We have also designed and delivered training and support to many foreign governments and agencies in all security and counter-terrorism disciplines, including kidnap, extortion and undercover operations.

We fully understand the human, physical and cyber elements of security vulnerability and failure.

These qualities enable us to develop innovative solutions which are different to that of our competitors. Our model also allows us to flex capacity to meet peaks of demand and respond quickly to urgent requirements.

Alun Jones MSC

Managing Director

Alun is a highly experienced security and defence expert with 30 years’ combined experience in both the British Military and private security sector. With service in both HM Royal Marines Commandos and the British Army, his global operational expertise in a multitude of theatres is far reaching and includes counter terrorism, peace keeping and hybrid warfare. He has developed, implemented, and managed unique safety and security programmes for states, organisations, and high net-worth clients, including Heads of State and global business leaders. Alun also has experience and expertise in protective security, command and control, and a wide range of security related training.

Bob Quick QPM

Chief Executive Officer

Bob served 32 years in the British Police Service becoming Chief Constable of Surrey Police and then Assistant Commissioner Specialist Operations at New Scotland Yard where he was UK Policing lead for Counter Terrorism. He oversaw the introduction of nine counter-terrorism centres across the UK. Bob was also responsible for the protection of the British Royal Family, Prime Minister and Cabinet and the security of the UK diplomatic community and visiting Heads of State. As CEO of BGS Ltd Bob has contributed to the global security debate and has led several security programmes including ‘Safer City’ projects. He has a global network of security expertise.

David Wood

David Wood

Executive Director

David served 31 years with the British Police Service rising to the rank of Deputy Assistant Commissioner. He specialised in combatting organised crime, anti-corruption and intelligence operations. David was the founding Executive Director for the Police Ombudsman Office in Northern Ireland. He was the CEO of the Office of Criminal Justice Reform in the UK Government. David was a Board member and deputy CEO at the UK Border Agency. In 2013 he became the Director General of the Department for Immigration Enforcement. David has lectured internationally on combatting corruption and organised crime.

Martin Bridger

Senior Investigator

Martin is an expert in the assessment and building of evidence for delicate, complex cases in jurisdictions across the world with more than 30 years’ experience as an investigating officer in the Metropolitan Police. He has worked in more than 20 countries and has a proven record working in highly charged political environments where knowledge of local culture and legal frameworks is crucial. Martin joined Northern Ireland’s first Independent Police Complaints Office as a senior Investigating Officer and developed a multi-faceted programme for countering religious extremism when in command of policing in Lambeth.

Brian Moore

Executive Director

Brian served in the British Police Service for 34 years rising to the rank of Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police and was the national lead for the prevention of all forms of violent crime. He has led major and sensitive national and international inquiries and investigations. Subsequently, Brian became the first Director General of the UK Border Force. In his post police career, Brian has been a board director of a leading investigation company before joining BGS.

Howard Nichol

Director Of Intelligence

Howard served 30 years in the British military, concluding as the Army’s Head of Counter Intelligence and Security. Specialising in Human Intelligence and Counter Intelligence operations against a wide variety of threats including hostile state intelligence services, terrorist and extremist groups, and organised crime, he served in every operational theatre, at every level of command, including Northern Ireland, Cyprus, the Balkans, Sierra Leone, the Horn of Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He has worked within the corporate intelligence, security, and cyber industry, managing the delivery of multi-million-pound programmes, to commercial entities and national governments.
